warm glow guilds my way past the vineyards
the autumn show unfolds as always - predictably
yet marked as unique by the process of change - even mother nature appears to know she must keep evolving
a sunset blazes across the sky more like fire licking her way around the bends and curves as I glide along Mt St Helena
calling me - moving me into its embrace - colors have a way of soothing and exciting
something about fall...colors, smells. sounds. the light shifts just enough to lift ones spirits
anticipation
it comes in on the breeze, whispers in the ears of the animals "somethings' about to change", the bees get their last chance busy going on, everything bursts for the last show, clouds start rolling in - dark and foreboding, fog peeks just over the horizon bringing the chill - promising the rains, wind and cold...
the grapes are gathered for the annual jelly, lemon verbena tied in bunches hung to dry, soon we will collect the walnuts...
gather
that's the whisper I hear in my ear "soon we will start to gather" for the holidays, meals set around the table with loved ones, events in he city, going to the mountains, seeing old friends, dressing up dressing down, sharing our stories of the year, embracing the traditions, making new ones, evolving so that we can do it all again...
together
